--------------------------------
Overview:
The Bank of England, in conjunction with the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, is delighted to host this quarterly inflation report briefing.
The Government has set the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) a target for annual inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, at 2%.
The Inflation Report, published quarterly by the Bank, sets out the detailed economic analysis and inflation projection serves two main purposes:
1. To provide a comprehensive and forward looking framework for discussion among MPC members as an aid to decision making on Interest Rates.
2. To allow the Bank to share its thinking and explain the reasons for its decisions to those who are directly affected.
